As a target for the professional association, it was set in 2006 to have the various training centres in Belgium ready within a period of five years to provide recognised basic training that guarantees the necessary knowledge and skills in the professional profession of reflexologist.

Following the meeting of the Training Committee with the schools on Thursday 23/11/2006 in Leuven, several schools signed the BeVo declaration of intent. Together with BeVo, they are actively pursuing the implementation of BeVo's training standard, which is in line with the standard set by RiEN (Reflexology in Europe Nexus).

A core curriculum was drawn up to create a frame of reference for training in Belgium. The aim is to upgrade the training of a professional reflexologist to European level. Or: 100 hours of anatomy, physiology and pathology, 150 hours of reflexology and 50 case studies.

Schools wishing to collaborate with BeVo should prepare a full dossier including:

  • the most recent course and/or book list
  • a breakdown of the number of lessons in anatomy, physiology, pathology and reflexology
  • the number of case studies
  • The exam with expected answer for the past 2 years.

This file is fully reviewed by two people - appointed by the BeVo board - who give their advice.

Students from schools offering professional training can join the professional association directly on submission of the necessary documents.

Students from schools teaching partial courses must compile their own educational pathway and can only join the professional body after approval of their educational pathway and/or successful completion of an examination before BeVo's accreditation committee. 

However, pending completion of their training, all reflexology students can already apply as prospective members.
