Professional association of reflexologists Belgium

Who is BeVo?

As an officially recognised professional association by the FPS Economy, we defend reflexology as a profession in its own right and strive to regulate and promote it.

We are NOT a training centre, but we do have the monitoring function at our recognised training centres. Here, we work towards regulating and organising continuing education and also monitor whether or not our accredited members followed proper training and continue to retrain in a timely manner.

As basic training, we follow the European guidelines of RiEN (Reflexology in Europe Nexus). In order to make our voice heard at RiEN (European level) and at FPS Economy (national level) and thus bring change to the profession of ‘reflexologist’, we also need you.</span

Our objectives and pillars at a glance

1) Gathering information on what is going on in the world of reflexology in Belgium and in Europe

This both in terms of research, new techniques, new insights, various collaborations, exchange projects and high-quality training courses. As BeVo, we are an active member of RiEN (Reflexology in Europe Network), which also gives us the opportunity to exchange experiences with the various member countries on a European level.

2) In a structured manner, pass on this information to the reflexologists

On the one hand, we want to bring members together to share their own insights and experiences. On the other hand, we want to support them by organising quality refresher courses and by communicating the latest developments at regular intervals via our newsletter, e-mail and website.

3) Regulating and organising continuing education

BeVo aims to clarify the various uses of reflexology. More specifically, the distinction between its valuable use at home and professional treatment and counselling of clients. We want to do this by working together with the training centres to develop a professional basic training, i.e. the Belgian Core Curriculum, which guarantees quality and provides sufficient room for the specific idiosyncrasies of the school itself. Several training centres are already actively working on this objective. In this approach, too, we follow the RiEN's proposed standards.

4) Registering skilled reflexologists on our public members' page

We want to provide an information resource where people can look for explanations about the workings and content of reflexology. We also monitor that our members meet our admission requirements and competence criteria and also that they comply with our code of ethics. Information is also provided on which professional reflexologists are based in your area and we aim to promote social contacts among our members.

5) Finally, we are a point of contact for the government and for RiEN

Since August 2007, BeVo has been the first professional organisation to be recognised by the Council of State. Here, we continue to work on the official recognition of reflexology and go to the meetings of the Supreme Council for the Self-Employed and SMEs to be informed first-hand of changes at the national level. We are also recognised members of RiEN and also go to their annual meeting to have our say on changes at European level. Here we also network with other European professional associations.
